This product is colorless or white to slightly yellow crystalline, odorless, hygroscopic, and exhibits alkaline reactions in aqueous solutions.
This product is easily soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol.

Sodium nitrite, calculated as a dry product, shall not contain less than 99.0% NaNO2.

2. Take an appropriate amount of the above solution, add dilute inorganic acid, and heat to produce a reddish brown gas.
3. Identification reaction of sodium salt in this product (General Rule 0301).
